After a successful three-month Beta 3 process, the new features of the Beta 4 release of QBeans JDO were announced on Monday, April 18, 2005. Originally scheduled for a June release, QBeans JDO Beta 4 has now been scheduled for release in October 2005. This will allow the QBeans team to incorporate many of the suggestions we have received from your valued feedback. New features will include improvements to the Beta 3 features, and the following important new feature sets:
- Authentication Functionality: The Authentication framework uses Java Authentication and Authorization Service APIs to provide a pluggable mechanism to authenticate to virtually any enterprise authentication provider. The framework maintains the authenticated state of the QBeans Application user, and controls access to the various functions in the application. Further, the framework responds to challenges by the network infrastructure when the authenticated state of the user’s connection to the datastore (or any other resource) times out or changes. Naturally, this is configured within a QBeans Application with a minimum amount of code.
- Search Functionality: The Search GUI API consists of GUI and non-GUI elements that allow the developer to rapidly create sophisticated search interfaces within their QBeans Application. These API components are remarkably flexible and robust and allow the developer to create GUIs that allow the user to launch and enter filter / sort criteria for virtually any type of search.
QBeans is a powerful Java application framework that revolutionizes the way that Java desktop applications are produced. It simplifies and shortens the development process while improving both application quality and longevity. To learn more about the current features of QBeans please visit QBeans.com.
