What are the benefits of using QBeans?
QBeans is a powerful Java application development framework that improves development effectiveness, improves application quality and longevity, and improves deployment flexibility. By using QBeans, the development / testing cycle for creating a desktop application is substantially reduced.

What are the licensing terms during the Beta period?
No license fee will be charged for QBeans Beta releases, however, you must agree to a standard form licensing agreement before you can download the products.

I find that my applications are pretty stable using the QBeans Beta release. Can I deploy my application with the Beta release of QBeans?
The Beta License Agreement does not permit this use, however, for a limited time, we will issue production licenses free of charge to those who wish to deploy their QBeans applications into production. Please contact us at info@qbeans.com if you are interested in these early adopter licenses.

When will QBeans be released commercially?
One (or maybe two-) more Beta releases are planned to add some additional functionality and to correct any errors found in Beta Testing before a General Availability release. This first GA release is planned for Q2 2005. Future releases will follow the same release cycle: the release will be available for a short beta cycle before being released for General Availability.

What types of licenses will be available, when QBeans is released commercially?
We are contemplating providing flexible licensing options to suit various scenarios. The licensing options will include per developer seat and / or per application production licenses, as well as corporate site licenses.

What enhancements will future QBeans releases include?
Several enhancements will be incorporated into future releases of QBeans, including:
  • advanced search functions for sorting and filtering,
  • subset list controllers,
  • Configurable authentication based on the Java Authentication and Authorization Specification
Watch our site for announcements of the new features including in the next release. If you have any suggestions to improve or enhance QBeans' usability, please send us an email at support@qbeans.com.

Can I use QBeans with alternate object persistence technologies such as Hibernate or Toplink?
QBeans currently supports Java Data Objects (JDO). Adapters for other persistence technologies (e.g. Hibernate, and Oracle Toplink) are possible and currently under consideration by the development team (Please contact us info@qbeans.com if you are interested in such adapters).

Can I use QBeans with SWT GUI components set?
QBeans currently includes GUI components based on the Java Foundation Classes (JFC) packages. The product has been designed to accommodate alternative GUI component sets (such as IBM's SWT framework). Please contact us info@qbeans.com if you are interested in such GUI component sets.
